Biography
Naito's practice centers on form and space that attend tothe inherent changes of living things — observing and reimagining the movements of life. Having witnessed both death and life in close succession over a short period of time, she arrived at a perspective that sees all living processes — including life and death — as continuous within the cycles of the natural world. Her work seeks to create spaces where the harmony and balance between living behavior and nature can be quietly sensed. Her ongoing series "resp." draws on the words respiration, response, and respectively — exploring the relationships of response that arise between living beings and their environment. In 2014, she graduated from the Scenography program,Department of Space and Interior Design, Musashino ArtUniversity. She went on to study film art direction, workingas an art director for video productions. A shift in perspective around life and death became the turning point that led her to develop her own artistic practice.
